BIO
Dr. Sarah Stefanakis is a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist with advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and neuropsychological assessment. She brings extensive experience and expertise working within school settings, where she emphasizes collaboration with educators and outside providers to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to treatment.
Dr. Stefanakis is dedicated to developing practical, evidence-based interventions that are effective across school, home, and community environments—recognizing that continuity is essential for meaningful progress. She builds strong therapeutic relationships by drawing on each client’s strengths and interests, and while her foundation is in CBT, she takes an eclectic, individualized approach to treatment based on each client’s unique needs. Her clinical focus includes helping children and adolescents manage anxiety, depression, executive functioning difficulties, self-regulation impairments, social concerns, and behavioral challenges.
In addition to therapy, Dr. Stefanakis conducts comprehensive evaluations to assess cognitive, executive, academic, social/emotional, and behavioral functioning. She has specialized training in neuropsychological testing and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, followed by a fellowship in neuropsychology in a private practice setting.
Above all, Dr. Stefanakis is committed to building strong, trusting relationships with her clients. She believes that a positive therapeutic alliance is the foundation for successful treatment—especially when working with children—and understands that motivation and connection are key drivers of progress.
